Who has tried out Instagram's new Type Mode in Stories? Instagram has said: "Now, you can turn your most random thoughts into something colorful and expressive."

It feels like it's another of Facebook's functions, creeping into Instagram's world, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But how much convergence is too much?

"We expect Stories are on track to overtake posts in Feed as the most common way that people share across all social apps," Mark Zuckerberg.

Mark Zuckerberg is nothing if not agile and ready to zag when people would think he'd zig. He's seen the success of stories on Instagram, knows that Facebook needs to reinvent itself to counter the criticism being lobbed it's way but also to keep pace with its rivals (even though it owns one of them).

Instagram today made a long overdue change to its product that social media managers have wanted for some time – it will allow businesses on Instagram to schedule their posts. Before, there were unofficial means to aid with this – like tools that would send out a push notification to remind you to publish a post at a given time, for example. But no functionality was available in Instagram itself.
